[sword-devel] OSISMorphSegmentation

GlobalOptionFilter=OSISMorphSegmentation is not documented in the wiki.

This module property is specified in wlc.conf for the Westminster Leningrad
Codex.

What does it do?

Do any front-ends support it in their GUI?

Also worth noting, this option is not listed in the syntax help for
diatheke.

Best regards,

David

As I would like to document this GlobalOptionFilter property in our wiki page
about conf files, a response would be helpful.

The only front-end (among those that I use regularly) that provides a token
nod to the property is PocketSword.

This merely displays "This is a morpheme segmented Hebrew text".

Even PocketSword has nothing in module preferences to toggle the display of
the segmentation.

Has this filter property "fallen by the wayside"?

Is it the property to indicate each Hebrew word is divided into seg
elements?

Step uses those structures to provide colour coding.

It may well indicate that, Chris, though of course, not all words are long
enough to be segmented.

I'm most interested to learn what should change visually when the filter is
toggled.

Should the segments of such words be made more apparent by displaying a gap
between segments
or even a delimiter between them? Or is it up to the front-end developer to
decide how?

How does STEP allocate the colours to the segments? Is it by segment order
within each such word?

And, referring to my first post, should there be a diatheke option provided
for this filter?
cf. Diatheke can be regarded as a front-end, even though it's a command line
tool.

Best regards,

David

STEP just uses 2 colours to show different parts, alternating between the
two. We're also in the process of creating a new dataset to be able to
identify and define each part of each Hebrew word as it's used in the text.
So the user can hover over part of a word and get the specific meaning for
that segment.

If the SWORD engine does not actually implement any show/hide filter for
OSISMorphSegmentation,
might it not be preferred (in the relevant Hebrew conf files) to replace

GlobalOptionFilter=OSISMorphSegmentation

by

Feature=OSISMorphSegmentation

?
